It is an online directory of dining and entertainment-related businesses and events in the area west of the Twin Cities (see detail in question 3).

What area is covered in GoingOutHJ.com?
It includes a ring of communities around the core Herald Journal readership area. Generally, it includes Waconia, St. Bonifacius, Loretto, Buffalo; all of Highway 12 from Maple Plain to Litchfield; Hutchinson, Glencoe, NYA, and everywhere in between. A few additional listings are included.
What types of information can I find?
1. “Listings” for restaurants, bars, off-sales, coffee shops, delis, wineries, movie theatres (cinema), performing arts centers, bowling, and golf. There are additional “tags” to listings to give further information such as alcohol drinks at restaurants, outdoor seating, etc.
2. “Events” are activities taking place at a specific location and time; they may or may not be associated with a listing.
How often are updates made?
Potentially every day, or as soon as we become aware of a change or new information.
How do the contests work?
Drawings for tickets, gift certificates, or other prizes are announced approximately once a month, depending on event dates, etc. You do need to register for each drawing, but only one entry per email address is allowed. Winners will be contacted directly and also published on the site.
How are events described?
There are also a number of “tags” to help readers find specific types of events such as dj music, expo, fish fries, food served, church, fundraisers, live music, live theatre, etc.
How are the listings developed?
We have gathered information from customer records, other online sources, and direct staff knowledge to present them as accurately as possible, based on businesses that legitimately qualify to be in each category.
How much does a listing cost?
Each included business has a free listing for name, address, phone number, and relevant categories. Please let us know of any inaccuracies.

Where else do ads appear?
Our monthly package includes the ad information on the GoingOutHJ.com website, and 4 weeks of ads in our three newspapers (Herald Journal, Dassel-Cokato Enterprise Dispatch, and Delano Herald Journal). Those with paid ads are also transcribed into event listings.
How do I get a featured listing?
Those who purchase the monthly advertising package are rotated through the Featured Listings.
How much does it cost to list only an event?
If you have a monthly advertising package or purchase other advertising space in a Herald Journal publication, it is included at no additional charge; otherwise the fee is $20 per event.
